Most Dangerous ?

Postby LoneWolf » Thu Mar 06, 2014 8:23 pm

I've been watching a lot of horror/thriller movies lately, which has made me think of this -

Have zombies/vampires/werewolves always been an imagined threat ?

When you watch several new film releases, man appears to be the danger.

Zombies/vampires/werewolves have always been frightening though unrealistic, but humans have always been a threat.

When you've read a book or watched a film about dangerous humans, does it not make you re-evaulate everything ?

Do we not create monsters when man is himself a monster ?

I agree. In any situation, man would be the biggest threat. There's nothing more dangerous and lethal than a mob of scared, angry, desperate people.

In a Zombie or any other apocalypse the living are the most dangerous.
Just look at Hitler.

I've just been thinking of a combination threat in a ZA, by mixing two film scenarios.

What if you had to contend with a world full of zeds, but also a large group(s) of raiders armed with silenced firearms ?

You'd have to deal with the obvious, slow but mass numbers of living dead, at the same time worry about gunfire attracting the attention of silencer armed raider groups, just waiting to hear the sound of survivors defending themselves.

So dealing with one slow threat that you can see, smell, maybe hear, to dealing with a fast, thinking unseen and unheard other.

What extra precautions would you need to take in this situation ?

I would purposefully fire rounds into the air just to draw the undead to my camp; and when the bad guys show up I will target them, so they would be in sort of a cross fire.

In my Zombie world, the undead are quick and can smell non-infected. (In my world, I am also immune to the virus and bullet-proof)

p.s. I also have Hollywood style mags - never need reloading.

Suppressors are not totally silent like they are in movies.
There is also a sonic crack if you are not using sub-sonic ammunition.
There are only a few things that are natively sub-sonic.
Most 45 acp ball is but most 9mm is not.
Target grade 22 lr is but standard High Velocity is generally not.

Hey, if you're gonna have the dead walking, surely it's not too far a stretch to imagine almost completely silenced firearms in the hands of raiders as an additional threat.

It's not always possible to have a scenario where the odds are in your favour - being slow mindless zeds and noisy silencers.

People have always been afraid of the unknown. Vampires and werewolves have been feared for thousands of years. They're usually blamed for any death or disappearance when there's no other explanation readily available.
The #1 fear for humans is still the dark.

I am not afraid of the dark, per se, but throw a few ghoulies into that pitch blackness, and I am terrified.
