Who Remembers this Road Song

Postby Bob » Thu Jan 01, 2015 8:49 pm

I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I got my plastic Jesus
Sitt'n on the dashboard of my car.
He won't slip and he won't slide
Cause his ass is magnetized.
Me and plastic Jesus will go far.

I can go ninety miles an hour,
Protected by the almighty power,
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car...

Something like that anyway...

Cool Hand Luke... Because sometimes holding nothing is a really cool hand...

Billy Idol did a cover of it on his album Devils Playground, pretty cool song. I would like to hear the original version some time though!

That's what I have, is that the specific one you referred to Bob? I need to look at my CD and check out what's written about it.

There are at least three versions of it out there.
The one I posted was the only one I knew existed until I started looking for a recording of it.

I only know it from the movie Cool Hand Luke.
He plays the song on the banjo after his last visit with his mom...

I didn't know it was a real song. I remember a comedian, Vic Dunlap would sing the first verse and act backwood-sy. Cool find and cooler to share, thx guys!
Most of my comments should be read with your best "BROCK SAMSON" voice. While others should be read with your best "CLINT EASTWOOD" voice. A few, and I mean a very few should be read with your best "JOE PESCI" voice.

Billy Idol ROCKS!
Anyone with Directv watch the live performance he did for Guitar Sessions? Dude is old but is still rockin the sneer.....

My boy loves that program. Billy Idol, Joan Jett, AIC, Korn. I use everything in my power to steer him clear of rap music.
